Speaking and Functional language

Description

In this lesson, students learn about speaking and functional language for problems and solutions. The lesson starts with a discussion about four situations. This is followed by highlighting the TL and students are prepared to speak about problems and solutions. next stage is useful language where students my find useful language for completing speaking task via final role play.

Procedure

Lead - in (3-7 minutes) • To activate students existing knowledge of topic and generate students interest

- Ss will be given HOs in Ex-10 - They will be seen four situations and read through situations - Encourage students feel similarly about situations and to give reasons - It is better to do it in pairs - Get students to discuss in pairs "what they would do in each situation? why? - Ss produce the language and model sentences - Teacher monitor class - Feedback: get the feedback from pairs to share with class

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To give better understanding of target language

- Ss will be shown three visuals - they will be asked to match visuals with four situations in Ex-10 - ICQ: clear instruction is needed - Learners are assigned to do it individually - peer checking should be run - Feedback: Ss share their answers with class and getting ready for next stage

Preparing to speak (7-12 minutes) • To generate ideas to speak about lessons topic

- Ss are assigned to listen the recording - ICQ: clear instruction is needed - To clarify the target language, some questions will be given to students in Ex-11 - In addition, Functional language is elicited by asking students too - Let them produce by speaking about TL and eliciting functional language - Feedback: Ss compare their answers with group mates

Useful Language (5-10 minutes) • To provide and clarify language which learners may find useful for compeleting the speaking task

- Ss have answered the questions in 3rd stage that was in line with clarification of target language and functional language - Since the focus of this stage is on functional language " problem and solution", teacher distribute HOs of Ex-12 to make them sure what they answered in last stage is either true or false and get them to the topic effectively. - By doing this, some grate ideas will be merged in students mind to use them in last productive stage - peer checking - Feedback: share ss answers with class

Feedback - Productive Speaking task (7-11 minutes) • To provide language feedback based on the task

- HOs of Ex-14 will be distributed to students - Ss are assigned to do the task in pairs - ICQ: clear instruction is needed - Ss in pairs will choose a situation mentioned in Ex-10 as role play activity as below Student A - explain the problem Student B - try to offer a solution - Teacher monitor the class and do some corrections if its needed - Feedback: Ss share with whole calass The more you share the more you care, You are the loveliest students in the world, i am literally proud of you
