Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information, detailed and deduction listening practice using a text about Neighbors in the context of complainting and requesting

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a Discussion in the context of neighbors

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The ss will be shown to some pictures about the listening topic and they will talk about it to each other to guess about what the listening is about. They are going to think about the pictures individually and after that they can share their ideas to the class.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage we will have . After that I will show them some pictures from the listening itself to engage them to the listening more than before. Then again ss will think individually and after that they will share their ideas. Finally I will teach them blocking words by means of MPF to prepare them for the listening. This will take 3 or 4 minutes

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Now it's the time for some gist Q to see how much ss are dealing with the topic and to measure their ideas with their answers. This part is going to be so much fun. We will answer the Q in a competition First they will think about the Q then, they will answer them in turns. This will help them to learn our lesson very happily.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

To continuation of our game, ss will answer some detailed Q to go through the listening more than before. First they will think about the Q then they will answer them in turns.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In the last stage which I think is the most important stage ss will think about some general Q about the topic and the whole listening and they will talk to each other about it and share their ideas. This will help me to see what they've learned and how they can use them in their life and to see whether it was useful or not
