Materials

No materials added to this plan yet.

Main Aims

  • To provide Ss with an opportunity to practice and/or develop their grammar skills, specifically their skills using the Past Perfect.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product grammar practice of the Past Perfect in the context of Meaning, Form, Pronunciation and Appropriacy. Making use of functional language to better grasp the concept.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show the Ss a few images in Jamboard, and then ask a volunteer to answer the following questions: - What did you do yesterday morning? - Was it the only thing you were doing at the time? - Could you please tell me again what you were doing, but including this other activity you mentioned? Then I'll let them know we'll be checking Past Perfect today and preoceedd to the first test.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

For this section I'll be using Google Slides. The Students will have to make past perfect sentences with pregenerated examples. Two completed sentences will be provided as a basis for the task.

Teach (8-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

For this section I shall be focusing on Meaning, Form and Pronunciation of a few chunks of language the Ss can use for further tasks. Using Google Slides to exemplify.

Test #2 (10-15 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

In this last section we'll be focusing on two different tasks for the Ss to complete in pairs using BR and Google Forms and Google Slides: The first task will be filling the gaps in a few sentences with either Simple Past of Past Perfect. To conclude this task there will be a small clarification for when to use the Past Perfect. For the second task the Ss will form pairs and will also be provided with a text sample (Nothing had changed) then they will have to identify the instances when the Past Perfect is used by underlining them.

Free practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

For the feedback we shall be checking some of the exercises that the Ss previously solved and they will be doing a peer check to correct any possible mistakes.
