  • To enable students to practice fluency speaking skills in the context of future plans

Procedure

Lead-in (4-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In breakout rooms, students will discuss their plans for the winter holidays OR this weekend.

Exposure (7-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students open a text on Forms and read to get the gist of it. They answer the question: what is the best alternate title? Teacher conducts OCFB.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Using the review feature on Forms, teacher highlights the target language and asks students for the meaning/purpose of it.

Clarification (12-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Using Google Slides, teacher covers MAFP. Meaning: students do matching, sorting Appropriacy: Form: students work in pairs to do a guided discovery task, answering CCQs on separate slides Pronunciation: on a separate slide, teacher covers pronunciation features such as connected speech, intonation, and sentence stress. Drills each phrase.

Controlled Practice (6-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students complete a gap fill/un-jumble activity on slides, working in pairs. This is a quick activity. It tests the grammatical form.

Free Practice (8-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students discuss their intentions for the winter holidays in breakout rooms. OCFB DEC
