Description

In this lesson, SS will learn how to contrast different future forms and their use. In addition, the SS will practice listening to recognize appropriate future forms in the context of everyday conversations. First, SS will see a photo and answer some questions before listening then they listen to answer a question about Sandy " Why is Sandy unhappy? SS read the conversation to identify three different ways of talking about the future. SS match the future forms with their meanings. The SS will practice using the future forms in conversations then listen to check their answers. SS are having more grammar activities for reinforcement.

Procedure

Warm up Photo (3 minutes) • To help the SS have more information before listening to the conversation

T shows a photo of a woman who is crying and asks the SS about the possible reasons for that. The SS guess.

Listening to a conversation (4 minutes) • To get the SS listen to a conversation between two roommates to answer a question

T writes a question on the board and asks the SS to listen to a conversation to answer the question." Why is Sandy unhappy?

Reading the conversation (5 minutes) • To ask the SS to read the conversation and find three different future forms

SS read a conversation and try to find three different ways of talking about the future.

Presentation (7 minutes) • To check if the SS are aware of different future forms.

T elicits the SS' knowledge of will, going to and present continuous in expressing future. T. assigns the SS to match the future forms with their uses.

Reading (6 minutes) • To read a conversation and select the appropriate future form.

SS will work to underline the appropriate future form then the SS listen to check their answers.

An activity (5 minutes) • To put the verb in the appropriate future form.

SS put the verbs in the appropriate future form and then listen to check their answers.

A listening activity (3 minutes) • To listen for the main idea.

SS are listening to a conversation for the gist. They answer a question after listening. ( Is there a future for Sandy and David?)

Extra activities (5 minutes) • SS answer more related activities for mastering future forms.

T refreshes the SS' knowledge of the use of future forms and puts them in groups to answer the activity. SS match each sentence to the best explanation.

An activity (7 minutes) • The SS answer an activity on future forms for more for more practice.

The SS in groups choose the appropriate future form for completing the sentences.
