Main Aims

  • To provide students with practice in Reading for gist,scan and detailed in the context of "The great international night out

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide some vocabularies of " the great international night out " in the same context


Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

* Ask students some questions : -Are you going out tonight? -when did you go out last time? and with who? -Would you rather to go out alone or with someone? -Do you prefer to go out in the morning or at night? - What are the places do you like to go?

Context -setting (2-3 minutes) • To generate students' interest in the Topic of "The great international night out".

-Chest Ho1 to the students and ask them to think individually about which of these do you do if you go out with your friends? and which do you never do ? why not? - Ask them to discuss in Pairs. - Ask a student about what did his partner tell him .

Pre-Teaching vocabulary (5-8 minutes) • To make sure students do not face difficult words that might block their understanding

*Chest Ho2 and ask them to read these sentences alone at the beginning in one minute. * Ask them to discuss and guess the meanings of the Highlighted words in pairs. *Ask one of them to read the 1st sentence loudly *Ask CCQs *Drill the word *Write on the board * Do the same with the rest of the Highlighted words.

While-Reading#1 (3-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

*Ask them to read the 1st paragraph of the article individually and answer the first question that is written on the board. *Which three of the activities in Exercise one are mentioned? *Skim the rest of paragraphs to answer the second question that is written on the board. *which country\countries is associate with these things? *Ask IcQs * Ask them to check in pairs *Check the answers with them *Then ,chest Ho3 to the students and ask them "which of these activities are associated these phrases with? * I will exchange the students' position * Ask them to check in pairs * Pass the key answer to them

While-Reading #2 (3-6 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading .

*Ask the students to read the passage carefully and in details individually. * Chest Ho4 and ask them to complete the sentences after Reading. * Check their answers in pairs. * The Key answer will be hung on the wall and I will ask them to go and check their answers

Post-Reading (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

* I will give to every student a piece of paper that includes questions * Ask them to stand in the middle of the class to ask each other about the questions they have in their pieces of paper. * monitor their discussion * feedback
