Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of language used for writing a review in the context of adjectives to describe the experience

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The class is on a virtual setting through a zoom session. Students will be asked what is their favorite food. They will participate individually. This activity is to have them think about food, and they will easily relate on going to eat to a restaurant, for upcoming tasks.

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Through the google jamboard of activities for this lesson, students will be asked to read a personal restaurant review. To prepare them for the following tasks. They will work individually

Useful Language (13-14 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

In the first task, students will be asked to clasify from a group of scrambled words (adjectives) into positive and negative. Through CCQ's it will be elicited the use of adjectives. The second task is a google form with T/F questions that explain the form of the review. And finally the third task will be a relate column activity that, in the first column gives the parts of the review and in the second column gives a brief explanation of such part. Students will work individually first, and in teams to compare answers.

Productive Task(s) (17-18 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students will be asked to create their own review. They will work on it individually and share it with the rest of the class. If they finish in less time than expected they will be asked to write another review, being a little biassed, either on a positive or negative note (they will decide). And share it with the class.

Feedback and Error Correction (4-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Feedback will be given based on the observation done during the productive task.
