Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students using humor

Meaning, Form and Pronunciation (7-0 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and to make it more accessible

Use Google slides TP4 for matching definitions MFP - Vocabulary/Phrases: Crossroads, I should think, how to get to OCFB - Any questions

Listening #1 for gist (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Listen to Audio 2.8 -Listen to the tourist asking for directions to the Jim Thompson House Google forms - insert correct phrases or words into sentences from audio Re-listen to Audio 2.8 Check answers in pairs via chat box OCFB

Listening #2 for detail (15-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

Listen to audio 2.9 Jamboard TP4 - Putting sentences in proper order according to audio. Listen to audio 2.9 again Put students in pairs to compare answers A,B,C,D,E,F,G Have them post answers in chat box Listen to both audio 2.8 and 2.9 again Google forms TP4 2 T - Formulate questions for obscure information that they may have missed Ex: Are the conversations taking place in a city or in the countryside? Who is having the conversation? Do you hear any noise in the background? Are there any buildings with flags on them? Can you hear any bugs (insects) in the background? Work in pairs and post answers to chat OCFB to check answers

Freer Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the audio and expand on what they've learned

TP4 2 Jamboard Use CCQ's for better understanding of the situation - What country is this taking place in? Is it an English speaking country? Are both speakers tourists? Break into groups 3 min Start a group conversation with posed questions OCFB On Whiteboard - How would you ask for directions? How would you give directions? DEC Final Questions - What city or country did this conversation take place in? What is easier for you - Asking for directions or giving directions?
