  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about an article in the context of giving advice.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T will let Ss know the lesson will be a writing lesson. - T will share on Zoom (sharing the T screen) a Google Slides presentation that will have the questions "What is an article giving advice? Have you ever looked for advice online?" - T will demo what answers are expected. - T will nominate Ss to answer. - T will ask Ss follow up questions to build rapport.

Sample analysis. (13-15 minutes) • Identify the layout and language in the piece of writing.

A. - T will share screen to a Google Forms page with a questionnaire about an article. - Ss will read for 3 minutes. - Ss will answer the questionnaire in pairs/groups. - T will nominate Ss to answer and justify their answers. B. - T will share screen to a Google Jamboard presentation to help cover MFPA. - T will ask Ss where they would place the following phrases depending on if they are to give advice to do something, give advice not to do something or introducing reasons. - T will share link to a Google Jamboard presentation for MFPA activities. - T will pair Ss, via Zoom breakout rooms, and cover meaning by having Ss categorize the phrases. - T will have Ss match the phrases based on how appropriate each phrase is. - T will cover Form by having Ss analyze the sentences and structure the sentences.

Writing (13-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice

- T will share screen to a Google Jamboard presentaton. - T will tell Ss that they will now have the opportunity to write their own article by choosing the topic or one provided by the teacher. - T will share a link to a Padlet page that will have their names and sections for them to write their short articles. - T will provide a check-list for Ss to have as reference and make the task easier.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production

- T will have students revise their peers work by the checklist provided in the Padlet page. - - T will ask Ss what they think the mistakes are and provide the apporpriate correction to the mistakes.
