Materials

Main Aims

  • To enable students to practice and revise functional language to discuss ambitions and achievements.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in the context of discussing ambitions and achievements.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Ask your learners to share ideas about the topic on Google Jamboard. 2. Conduct OCFB

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

3. Have learners answer Ex 2 p. 67 (T7.4) as a gist task. Have learners compare answers in pairs (via private messages) before OCFB

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Language Clarification 4. Cover Meaning, Form, pronunciation and Appropriacy of TL. (on Google Slides or Forms)

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

5. Provide controlled practice of the language. (on Google Forms) 6. The learners do this individually and then check in pairs (via private messages). OCFB

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Freer Practice 7. Adapt Ex 1,2 and 3 p. 67 (Speaking) to provide FP of the language. (on breakout rooms) 8. Conduct Feedback and DEC.
