Description

In this lesson, students will learn about phrases with on through an audio about city life. The lesson begins with a short discussion about city life. This will be followed by listening to an audio recording where students will hear the use of the TL. After this there will be the MFP, followed by a controlled practice through sentence completion with the TL. Finally there will be free practice by telling a short story using the TL.

  • To provide practice of Phrases with on in the context of providing students the opportunity to make connection between classroom learning and the real world.

Procedure

Lead-in (10-15 minutes) • To set tone of learning environment.

T will use Google Jamboard (TP2 Class Jamboard) to show a visual image of the topic of discussion. (2mins) Students will listen to a conversation with TL and gist task. Students match title to audio (1min) Ss to T (Open Class Discussion)

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • Cover meaning, form and pronunciation

Teacher will use google slides to clarify meaning, form and pronunciation. Meaning- by using CCQs to elicit meaning from students. Form- asking students what forms of words are combined e.g. Is it a noun, verb or a pronoun? Pronunciation- model the phrases for the students and have them repeat it individually and as a group.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide controlled practice of the TL.

Teacher will share a Google form exercise for students to practice use of the TL. (4mins) Students will do this individuall and once completed, check answers in pairs via private messaging (2 mins) Students to teacher (Open Class Feedback) (2mins)

Free Practice (5-10 minutes) • To allow students to communicate freely using the TL.

Send students to breakout rooms and have them tell each other things about themselves or family members using the TL . (3 mins) Conduct Feedback and DEC. (2 mins)
