Description

In this lesson, students will learn capital cities and use Wh questions in TL. Lesson will start with warming questions like How are you? How is the weather? In Lead-in part; a capital ball will be used and the students will be engaged with the topic by making predictions. Later they will learn some words related to the passage. Also the reading passage will be given to the students and asked to answer the questions on the WB. Then the handouts will be done by the students. Finally the students will work on other reading passages in pairs and and use Wh questions.

Main Aims

  • To introduce the capital cities and practice Wh questions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • to review and practice Wh- question words.

Procedure

Warmer (1-3 minutes) • To warm up the students to the lesson

Some questions will be asked to the students like How are you? How is the weather today? Who is sleepy? Who is tired today?

LEAD- IN (1-4 minutes) • To make the students aware of the topic by making predictions.

Show the capital ball and throw the ball to any student. After that, will tell the first capital they see and it will be written on the WB.

Pre- reading (1-3 minutes) • To clarify some vocabularies like created

Chest the pictures of Paris and Ankara. Elicit the meaning of the words.

While- reading (1-20 minutes) • To relate the topic with the text.

The text (page 21) will be distributed to the students and they will read it in two minutes. And they will answer the questions on the WB. WCFD- elicit answers. Later the HO2 ( T-F ) will be done by the students. WCFD- elicit answers. Then HO3 ( Wh questions) will be done by the students. WCFD- elicit answers.

Post-reading (1-15 minutes) • Practising Wh questions through reading passages.

Chest the reading passages. Give the instructions and let the students work in pairs. The students will work in pairs, ask and answer the questions by each other. PWFD -elicit answers

If time (1-10 minutes) • To provide the students practice semi-controlled speaking about the topic

The students will work in groups and they will be given semi-controlled topic to speak about it and asked to discuss the items in the activity. After that they will be asked to put the items in orders on the WB.
