Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide the ss with some new information about robots via reading

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Free discussion in the context of household chores with robots

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The ss will be shown to some pictures about the reading topic and they will talk about it to each other to guess about what the reading is about. After that they will watch a video about a special kind of robot which can clean the house very easily. it lasts about 30 seconds. Then they will talk to each other about a video and describe their opinions in PW.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage we will have a hand out which contains some match drills it is going to take about 2 or 3 minutes. After that I will show them some pictures from the reading itself to engage them to the reading more than before. Then again ss will discuss about it in groups of 2 or 3.This will take our time for 4 or 5 minutes. After that I will teach them blocking words by means of MPF to prepare them for the reading. This will take 3 or 4 minutes

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Now it's the time for some gist Q to see how much ss are dealing with the topic and to measure their ideas with their answers. First they will think about the Q then, they will talk to each other and discuss about it after that some volunteers can share their ideas about the Q.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

After some gist Q it's the time to go through to the reading more than before with some detailed Q. First they will think about the Q then, they will talk to each other and discuss about it after that some volunteers can share their ideas about the Q.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In the last stage which I think is the most important stage ss will think about some general Q about the topic and the whole reading. This will help me to see what they've learned and how they can use them in their life and to see whether it was useful or not
