In this lesson, students are going to talk about schools. In the beginning, T is going to give a break to students to talk about schools with their peers. After this they will have 2 controlled exercises also about schools and the Ss are going to listen to a record that talks about schools in UK and USA. Finally, Ss are going to talk about their previous experiences in schools.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of schools

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about whether you like or hate in the context of schools


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T welcomes the Ss to the lesson -T starts the Canva slide and talks schools and education -T sends Ss to breakout rooms to talk about schools -T gives instructions to Ss about what they are going to talk about -T Doesn't monitor the Ss in this exercise to let the Ss talk freely -T brings back Ss and continue the lesson

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

-T shows the first exercise for the Ss -T asks the students to answer the question depending on the context. -T gives instruction about how to solve this exercise. -T sends Ss to breakout rooms for 2-3 minutes -T monitors Ss in the breakout room -T comes back to main room and asks Ss to answer the question -T gives feedback if it is needed.

Productive Task(s) (20-22 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

-T shows the Ss the second exercise -T give 1 min to Ss to read about it -T tells the students the difference between American and British usage of words -T plays record 11.7 to the Ss twice - If Ss have a problem with the record T will show the script -T Let the Ss to match the speakers in the records with the first exercise -T gives feedback and shows the answers to the students -T moves to the Second exercise -T shows some questions to the Ss -T gives the Ss instructions about how to answer the question -T sends Ss to breakout rooms -T monitor the Ss and gives feedback when it is needed -T comes back to main room with the Ss -T let the Ss talk on behalf of their peers -T gives feedback and give other examples -T moves to third exercise -T shows the Ss the question -T gives instruction about the exercise -T gives examples to Ss -T sends Ss to breakout rooms to talk with each other -T monitor Ss -T comes back to main room with the Ss -T asks the Ss to talk about their partners

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Flexi Stage (2-5 minutes) • To provide an additional speaking for fluency activity in case the class ends early
