Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of informal email in the context of telling an old friend about the latest news during the past two years.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide reading practice using a text about informal email in the context of a girl that writes an email to her old friend.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-I'll use a picture from the Egyptian film (X _large). _Ask them "Do you know this film?" _What was the relationship between Dina and Magdy? _How did they meet each other again? -Now I want you to discuss with your partner and answer these questions? 1_What's your old friend name? 2_How many years do you know him /her? 3_Are you still in touch with him/her? 4_How do you contact with him/her?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

This is Charlotte and her friend Laura -Charlotte tried to contact with her old friend Laura whom she didn't see her for long time . -Skim and answer this question ( What do you know about Laura and Charlotte ?) -With your partner . -Ex -Fill in gaps using these phrases . _Give them five minutes _Work individually. -Check in pairs . -Feedback

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Productive Task(s) (15-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

_Now I want you to close your eyes and imagine that you traveled and lost connection with your best friend for two years . _One day you were searching in your papers and suddenly found her /him email . - So What are you going to do? _To elicit write an email to him/her -Okay you have 15 minutes to write the email.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-Thanks the students for the good use of language. _Correct the errors on the board and elicit their correction.
