To provide clarification and review of present perfect simple and continuous in the context of recent achievements.
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of some context
To provide listening practice using a text about a recent breakup in the context of in some context
Procedure (37-49 minutes)
Ask the students to talk about the topic in teams using Zoom Breakout rooms.
Presentation through the text using Practice 2 on page 59 as the text where Ss will get the target language from. As a gist task, Ss listen to an audio of a conversation and select the best summary using Google Forms. Ss compare their answers in pairs using the Zoom private chat feature. Teacher conducts brief OCFB. Intensive reading task to get my marker sentences, using Google Forms--students have to put the sentences from the audio in the correct order.
Using the review of the intensive task on Google Forms, teacher will highlight several sentences that use the past perfect continuous and the past perfect simple. Teacher will ask students what they notice about these sentences and elicit the names of the tenses.
Teacher will cover Meaning, Form, and Pronunciation of the language using Google Slides.
Use Practice 1 to provide controlled practice of the language on Google Forms. Students do this individually, then check in pairs via Zoom private messaging. Then Teacher conducts OCFB.
Freer practice for students to use the language of this lesson on Zoom breakout rooms. Then teacher conducts feedback and DEC using the Zoom whiteboard feature.
