Procedure

Lead-in (5 minutes) • To create interest in the topic

have a lead in based on the topic. What if I tell you guys that we have a surprise exam for today? How would you respond to that? CCQs: Is this something unexpected? yes What if I tell you we have to work in pairs? Is something that we usually do? yes INSTRUCTIONS: Please share something that you did yesterday and everyone else please respond to that person

Preparation (3 minutes) • give Ss language they can use to do the speaking task

T will share a slide with 5 positive interjections. Ss need to fill in the blanks with the words given. INSTRUCTIONS. Individually fill in the blanks.

Peer-check (2 minutes) • Create a safe space for students to share their answers

INSTRUCTIONS: Let's check our answers in breakout rooms, you have 2 minutes.

Preparation (3 minutes) • give Ss language they can use to do the speaking task

T will share a slide with 5 negative interjections, Ss need to fill in the blanks INSTRUCTIONS. We are going to do the same thing as before, you have 3 minutes to answer.

Peer-check (3 minutes) • Create a safe space for students to share their answers

INSTRUCTIONS: Again in break out rooms let's check the answers. 3 minutes.

OCFB (5 minutes) • Check the answers

T will share a side with the previous exercises. Ss need to identify which belong to being surprised and which ones don't. INSTRUCTIONS: Which exercise used phrases that we use when we are surprised? Why?

Pronunciation (3 minutes) • Practice intonation with the interjections

INSTRUCTIONS: let's read the sentences with the emotion that they represent. Everyone please repeat.

Speaking (16 minutes) • Students will be able to use the vocabulary they learned.

allow Ss to talk about the topic (of personal information at least twice, [3 times if time allows] with different peers) INSTRUCTIONS: Now let's go on break out rooms and practice. One person will share an anecdote and the other will respond. You have 5 minutes. INSTRUCTIONS: Now we switch roles.

Feedback (5 minutes) • Check for doubts

T will check the errors that the students made during the practice.
