Description

In this lesson, the students will have many activities about some adjectives and their opposites. By the end of the lesson the students should be able to use the adjectives correctly in the sentence.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of adjectives in the context of the things the Ss are familiar with.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed and specific information in the context of comparing two persons.

Procedure

T introduces himself and also the Ss introduce themselves. (1-2 minutes) • To break the ice between them and me.

This is Mahmoud Fathy. Let's remember each others' names (And the students introduce themselves).

Showing some adjectives and theır opposites (8-10 minutes) • To make the students familiar with the adjectives and their opposites

I will show the Ss one of the picture pairs and elicit how the adjectives could describe them.Then I drill the vocabulary. Elicit that the words are adjectives and the opposites.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To get the students practice the adjectives and their opposites

T will put all the adjectives that we have done earlier on the WB and then T asks the Ss to rush towards the WB to pick the opposite of the adjective he is going to say.

Usage (10-12 minutes) • To make the Ss able to use the adjectives correctly in the sentence

T writes on the WB some sentences and then asks the Ss to say which one is correct and which one is not correct. Then he asks Ss why this sentence is correct and why is not correct. Then T summarizes that the adjective comes before the noun and 'very' comes before them both.

Listening and Reading (10-12 minutes) • To arise the Ss awareness of the TL by listening and reading.

T shows Ss the pictures of Sally and Bill . Ss should elicit the things that they can see in the picture. The teacher will write the two names on the WB and then ask the students what belongs to who. Next, the Ss listen to the recording to check their answers. Then the Ss read the text to get the answer for True or False questions. Finally, Ss check the answers in pairs and then with the whole class.
