Description

In this lesson, students will learn about the essential elements of "have/has got" concepts with yes/no questions. They will be given open class practices on TL by cross questioning technique as PW/GW. They will follow this up with a demonstration activity undertaken by students to formulate and elucidate the concepts learnt.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To introduce and give practice in "have/has" yes/no questions and short answers through the context of talking about personal possession.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of "have/has got" yes/no questions

Procedure

Warmer/Lead in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T gives Ss few handouts on twisted sentences and asks them to read it aloud. T ask each student to listen to the audio and repeat the words and sentences. WC on task

Presentation (5-6 minutes) • To rejuvenate the concepts of "have/has got" with its application in positive and negative aspects in sentence structure.

T explains the simple sentence formation of "has/have got" in WB. T will show some pictures related to the sentence formation and elicit answers from learners. WC on task and S to demonstrate.

Practice Session#1 (4-6 minutes) • To boost up confidence among learners in filling up simple questions on "has/have got" concepts

T will show some simple exercises on WB. Check in pairs.

Practice Session#2 (4-5 minutes) • To upgrade their knowledge on question formation using "has/have/hasn't/haven't"

T handout two worksheets of similar pattern (Question formation and rearranging the questions) in "has/have got" concept and instruct learners to complete it within short time frame. These concepts will be introduced in the previous stage for their familiarity and convenience. Check in pairs.

Practice Session#3 (5-6 minutes) • To ameliorate the habit of speaking among students using correct structural form of "have/has got".

T will give a demo on the activity and hand out worksheets with some pictures comprising of two columns on it (guess column/partner column). Work in pairs. Pairs will be interchanged during this activity.

Semi-Controlled Practice and Observation Check (5-6 minutes) • To interpret learners observation ability and to improve their ability to form sentences randomly.

T will handout worksheets describing rooms of two persons "Harry and Harriet" and ask the learners to figure out things which are present in Harry's room and vice-versa. T will ask them to form sentences using "has/have got" in pairs.

Memory check activity and motivational video (13-15 minutes) • To induct the concept of "has/have got" using a audio/video file for up gradation in pronunciation and Ss effective learning

T will play a video describing two persons. Sentence structure of the video consists of "has/have got" and ask Ss to remember or write the description. T will elicit the answer from pairs after the video. Work in pairs. T will play a motivational video to spark that motivation to learn more and get benefited.
