Main Aims

  • To provide practice in listening for gist and for specific information in the context of Isabel showing a friend photos in relation to her on phone

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice speaking in the same context by using photos in relation to them (Ss)

Procedure

Lead-in & Context-Setting (6-7 minutes) • to generate interest in the topic of the lesson and text

- Write the questions on the whiteboard. 1-Why do people take photos? 2- when was the last photo you took? with who? 3- Do you show your photos to family and friends?How do you feel about it? -Ask S to read it aloud -Tell Ss before start speaking, write short notes to help you when you speak -Ask ICQ "Are you going to write a complete sentence or just phrases or word ? - you have 2 minutes to write your short notes.say start - Ask Ss to work with their partners ( use hand gesture to point at pair work)

Pre-teaching Vocabulary (4-5 minutes) • to prevent Ls blocking on unknown vocabulary in the questions or answers

-Chest Ho -Read the question -Ask Icqs " How many sentences? and how many words inside brackets ? -Ask Ss to work alone -deliver HO -Check with whole Class - Drill if Ss mispronounce words

Listening 1 (8-8 minutes) • to give Ls a reason to listen at general level

- chest hand-out, point at question (a) and say our topic today is about Isabel showing a friend photos on her phone. -Ask Ss how many photos does Isabel show her friend? and how many persons in the first photo ? and the second one ? So,the question here is who are the people in the photos in relation to Isabel? - Ask Icq "Are you going to write their names or only their relationship with Isabel? - Deliver HO -Ask SS to listen Carefully and work alone - monitor Ss while they listening - Ask Ss Do you want to replay the audio ? - Ask Ss to check their answers with their partners (use the hand gesture to point to work in pairs) - Check the answers with whole class

Listening 2 (10-10 minutes) • to give Ls a reason to listen for individual items of information

- Chest HO of question (b) and read it - Ask ICQ "How many people are you going to write about them?" (use hand gesture) - Ask another ICQ " and how many things should you write down in the table? - Deliver HO and say work alone - Play the audio and pause after each person has been described to give Ss to write - Play again if Ss want to re-listen - Check the answer with the whole class -Write the answers on the whiteboard

speaking (15-15 minutes) • to give Ls the chance to respond to text orally

-Ask Ss to show their partners photos of people in their family or friends .if you don’t like to show photos ,draw a hand on a piece of paper and write in each finger a name of family member or friend - Tell Ss "Ask each other 3 questions about each person." - demonstrate a photo with Ss and Elicit from Ss 3 examples of questions -Ask Icq “ if you don’t want to share photos what will you do?and How many questions will you ask about each person ? - Before we start take 2 minutes to write short notes about the questions you want to ask - Ask Icq” Will you write a complete question or just words and phrases ? -Monitor Ss while they are doing the task -give feedback on content and language
