Description

In this lesson, SS analyse the phrases: be used to" and "get used to". It is a relevant topic because, as similar as these phrases may seem, their meanings are very different. It is also important because native English speakers use these phrases frequently compared to other equivalents such as "being familiar with" and "becoming accustomed to".

Materials

Main Aims

  • To introduce, provide clarification and practice of the phrases "be used to" and "get used to" in the context of travel

You'll have to fill in the gaps with the correct positive or negative form of "be used to" or "get used to". Sometimes there is more than one possible answer. For this, you'll have 3 minutes to solve it individually" T asks: Ok, so what are we doinig? (filling in the blanks with forms of "be used to" or "get used to) How much time do you have? (3 minutes) T instructs: Now, you'll have 3 more minutes to compare your answers with your classmates in BreakOut Rooms. T checks: Ok, so what are we doing now? You'll speak about something that you: weren’t used to doing at one time, but you are now. don’t think you’ll ever get used to. You'll have to decide who has the most interesting/strange/funny answer to one of these questions and what is it? You can take a screenshot. You'll have 5 minutes. T checks: Ok, so what are we doing? (We're speaking with our groups) For how long? (5 minutes) T creates BreakOut rooms and monitors. T makes notes for the delayed error correction.
