TP 5 Speaking (Simple Present Verbs)
Elementary level

Description

In this lesson, Ss will practice using simple present verbs in the context of weekend activities. Ss will practice Target Language through various activities and speaking activities.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To introduce and provide practice of speaking for fluency in the context of weekend activities.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of simple present verbs in the context of weekend activities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Have Ss checkmark which activity they do on the weekend. Share out loud with the class what activities each student does on a typical weekend.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

In pairs in breakout rooms, have Ss work on filling the blank with words from a word bank. Ss will have 4 minutes to do this before OCFB. Then go over MFPA for the TL focusing on how the verb changes for I/He/She/We/They. Ask CCQ's and FCQs.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

In breakout rooms, students will ask each other what they do on the weekend and what their favorite thing is to do on the weekend. They will have 10 -12 minutes to discuss in their groups. Then we will return together as a group, and have the Ss share what their group said.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T monitor Ss in breakout rooms and as they are sharing their answers with the class, noting any error the Ss may have. On Zoom whiteboard, address and correct any errors. Answer any questions.
