Main Aims

  • To provide fluency practice in the context of choosing a manager for a pop group.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification in usefullanguage about preferences and choices.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will have a presentation for students about some famous pop bands and I will brainstorm ideas about what makes them famous.I will elicit students' names to do this. As a class we gather all information.

Highlighting (2-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In a google slide I will present a group spot for students get in touch with the target language. Students read and find what has made them famous but what happened to the manager. Students are divided into breakout rooms to share their answers and ideas.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will use a presentation for students to have the useful language. It will be divided into sections for them to analyse each one. We will work meaning and pronunciation as a class.

Controlled Practice (8-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will have a google form for them to work in useful language as a revision before the last task. Students compare answers in total class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will allow Ss to talk about the topic (choosing a manager for a pop group) at least twice, 3 times if time allows] with different peers. I will provide Ss with feedback on language based on your monitoring of the task.
