Main Aims

  • To provide speaking fluency practice in the context of talking about firsts.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice in expressions to tell their own stories.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will be presented a few pictures (3) in google slides showing them some aspects in which they had experience some steps in life for the first time (going to school,going to a sleepover, etc). Studentswill be needed to have a small brainstorm about some feelings or emotions faced at that time.

Highlighting (2-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students will be presented a situation in which something happened for the first time. A person asking for a job in his life. This task will be presented for students to be in touch with the target language. This could be made by using a google form form them to complete. Students share answers. Teacher conducts open feedback.

Clarification (8-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Students will be presented Useful language to use in order to tell their own stories. Teacher presents expressions and have students work out meaning of phrases. A brief presentation about form will be led for students. Pronunciation will be presented by having the teacher model them and having students drill.

Controlled Practice (8-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will complete a google form in which they have to identify the target language presented before. Teacher creates breakout rooms for students to compare answers. Open Feedback.

Free Practice (8-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students willbe sent into breakout rooms fro them to share their firsts. Allow students a few minutes (2) for them to think and outline their ideas. Monitor. Conduct Final feedback and OCD.
