Description

in this lesson, students learn how to speak and express their jobs and their parents jobs through guided discovery based on a reading text and different activities. the lesson starts with a discussion about their dream jobs. this is followed by an oral discussion and a reading passage. finally there are some activities and role-play speaking activities.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • help students to get into the topic.

what would you like to be? what's your father job?

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Show the students the pictures of the jobs and let the guess their names. let them give more information about each job. Example: Who is he? He is a teacher. Where does he work? He works in a school. What does he do? He teaches kids new things.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Reading the passage in the student's book then clarify the meaning of new words and its pronunciation. Finally discuss the topic.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

After they know everything about the jobs. let them practice it by a simple game using a model for town then let each students choose a job in that town and speak about it.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Divided the student into teams. Giving each team a description of a job. Finally let them search for the picture that suits the description. Example: I work in a hospital. I help sick people. I wear a white coat. who am I? ( so the students must search for a doctor's picture)

Free Practice (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

listen to a song about jobs.
