Main Aims

  • To provide fluency in using language to solve a problem.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice in fixed phrases related to solving problems.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will present students 5 sentencesfor them to match about problems and what kind of problems they are. Students match and answer 2 questions about problems. I will use breakout rooms for this.

Highlighting (2-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will use track 5.5 to present the activity. Students listen to the audio and answer two questions which will be presented in google slides. Answers will be checked in open class. Studemnts will listen to the audio again and answer the questions. They have to find more silutions and give reason why they were rejected. Students can share answers in breakout rooms.

Clarification (8-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will give students a google form for them to complete a task filling the gaps. We check answers in class and then I will present a presentation using google slides. I will present fixed senteces to solve a problem.

Controlled Practice (8-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will have students complete an activity for them to complete and practice language. A short conversation and they choose options. Answers will be checked in breakout rooms.

Free Practice (8-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will present students a slide on google slides.Students are presented two problems. Students choose one problem to discuss and give possible solutions. In breakout rooms,students complete the activity. At the end, we will have feedback.
