Main Aims

  • To provide practice with causative have and get in the context of getting things done.

  • To provide fluency in the use of causatives.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask students to talk about the topic in groups using breakout rooms. I will present some questions for them to discuss. Do either of you work in an office which looks anything like these? Would youlike to work in an office like these? Do you think that working somewhere like this would make you more creative?

Highlighting (2-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students will read a text for them to get a general idea, causatives have and get will be presented in the text. Students compare answers in pairs using breakout rooms. I will conduct OCFB.

Clarification (8-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

On Google slides I will present some slides containing some have ang get something done structures, using the grammar reference. I will cover meaning with a sentence: I had my apartment valued last week. I got my car fixed yesterday. I will present a google form with exercises and then we will cover meaning and form.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

On Google forms I will give students a task for them to practice the structures. Students do this task individually, then we will check answers in pairs in breakout rooms. I will conduct OCFB

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will present students some questions for them to discuss in breakout roms and for them to practice the structures they learnt in the lesson. What perks would make you most want to work for a company? What do you find more interesting in working in a good environment? Final Feedback.
