Main Aims

  • To present and provide practice about passive voice in the context of inventions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency on the target language by creating a communicative task for learners.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will be presented a slide containing some important inventions in history. In groups of three,students will discuss the topic for this. What is the importance these inventions have brought into our lives? In what content, do you think these inventions have made an impact in our lives?

Highlighting (2-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students will be presented a listening task for gist in which Target language has been contextualize in order for them to identify patterns. Students will discuss answers in pairs via breakout rooms, 2 minutes for this. Teacher will conduct OCFB.

Clarification (8-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Students will be presented a slide containing a sample sentence using the target language: Active: Inhabitants in Peru built Machu Picchu sometime in the fifteenth century. Passive: Machu Picchu was built sometime in the fifteenth century. Students will work meaning by having some CCQs. Stress will be presented by teacher modeling stress and having students drill the sentence.

Controlled Practice (8-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students are provided a controlled practice by having a Googleform ( a text) for them to complete using the target language. Students then compare answers in pairs via breakout rooms.

Free Practice (8-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In pairs via breakout, students will interact by having a communicative task in which they present an invention they come up with. Have students use TL fluently. Monitor during the activity. Teacher conducts feedback and DEC.
