Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will start his presentation and elicit the names of the characters from the students as he eliminates the pictures to discover the last 3 questions. 1. Do you play video games? 2. What video games do you play? 3. Did you play when you were young? T will provided students a space to express their opinions. Depending on the number of students, this could be done on Break Out rooms to increase interaction.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T will show students slide 2 on Jamboard and students will complete the sentences using the vocabulary on the box. T will ask the following CCQ to check for understanding of the vocabulary before the main reading activity. Is a hero a good person? Yes Is a villain a good person? No. Is the Oscar an award? Yes. Do designer plan things? Yes. Do designers physically create things? No. Is dancing a form of art/painting/music? Yes.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Yes. Ss will then be provided the text as a google form as well as a few questions that direct their attention to the target language. Students will then be directed to break out rooms to discuss their answers with their partners before returning to the main session for open class feedback.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Meaning: T will have students reread a section of the main reading activity and have them complete the general rules for article use. T will then provide some examples of article use and use CCQ to verify that the students understand the meaning of the articles. Form: T will show students slide N°6 on the jamboard and will call their attention to the position of the article in a sentences in reference to nouns and adjectives. Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will be provided with a google form which consists of short text with missing words (articles) and options to complete it. Students will have time to work on the text individually and then be send to Break Out rooms to discuss their answers in pairs before doing it in front of the whole class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will have students play a simple memory game following the structure of the "traveling suitcase". The aim is to provide students with freedom to choose the items they "buy" and have them change the associated article, meaning that when the first mention the object they should use an indefinite article (unless it is an unique object like "The Eiffel Tower") and then change it to the definite article when referring to the object the second time. Depending on the remaining time, there could be 1-3 rounds. T will monitor production in preparation for Content Feedback or Delayed Error Correction.
