Copy of Celta Lesson Plan 8:Speaking
Intermediate level

In this lesson students improve their fluency skills through speaking. The lesson starts with a video of a song which was used as a warm - up/lead in activity. Then, students will be asked to brainstorm about love and marriage. Next, in pairs, students will make a list about the reasons to divorce and share their answers with other pairs. The lesson is followed by a match & order activity which will help the students revise the context related vocabulary. After a short discussion, students will be given some interesting stories about divorce. Each student will retell his/her story to the others in turns and finally they will share the most interesting story with the rest of the class.

If Ss fail to come up with the intended vocab., they will be guided through some questions like: 'Are there any negative sides of marriage? What happens if things go wrong? etc.'

Task 1: Ss will be divided into two groups. They will be given two sets of pictures and words. First, they will match the words with the correct pictures. Then, they will discuss which ones are better reasons to get a divorce and organize them in order of importance. Finally, two members from each group will come to the board and stick their pictures on it. They will compare their preferances. Task 2: Each student will be handed a piece of paper with a different short story on it. First, they will read their stories. They will be seated face to face and retell their stories. They will take turns until everyone hears about each story. When they finish, they will turn back to their seats and tell which story is their favourite and why.

Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T will take notes throughout the lesson and write some examples of students' mistakes on the board. Correction about these mistakes will be taken from the students if possible. If there's still extra time, Ss will be divided into two groups and will be given some ideas to discuss.
