Procedure

Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context, engage students and activate their knowledge of the topic.

T says hello and asks Ss Do you use social media platforms, such as Facebook? Let's see which you use the most T shares screen and shows Ss the Menitmetre quiz. Go to Menit.com on your phone and put in the code you see on the screen. Vote. Ss vote and T shows results. Now discuss the results and how you use social media platforms T puts Ss in breakout rooms to discuss question: How do you use social media platforms 2 minutes T conducts OCFB with one or two Ss. What did you learn in your group?

Pre-Listening (4-6 minutes) • To cover MPF of any blocking vocabulary to aid completion of the tasks

T displays powerpoint slide 3 Now I am going to send you a Jamboard. T says: (M) Please match the words to the meaning. Ss do matching task on Jamboard slide 1 (F) Now look at the Jamboard again: slide 1 What part of speech are bite-sized, quirky and rocket. (A) Are these words formal or informal? Informal (P) Listen to the pronunciation. Where is the stress. slide 2 T shows Jamboard slide 2 and points out the chunks of language (collocations)

While Listening #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with a gist listening task so that they listen for a general understanding of the text

T shares screen and says Now we are going to listen to a chat show about Tik Tok. There are two presenters Lara and Spencer T shares screen and shows Google Form Now answer question A on part 1 of your Google Form. ICQs: Are we listening for the main idea or detail? Main idea. Main idea. Ss peer check together. Breakout rooms 1 minute. T conducts OCFB.

While Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with a more detailed listening task so that they can process the text

T shares screen and says: Now listen again. Answer the questions in part 2 of your Google Form. T demos the first question using the example. There are 6 questions. Put your thumbs up when you finish. Now check your answers in pairs. In breakout rooms. 2 minutes T conducts OCFB

Post-Listening Task (7-10 minutes) • To provide Ss with an opportunity to respond to the text in a comunicative task

T says: Now you are going to discuss what else you could use social media platforms for. In pairs. T shares screen Use the Jamboard (last slide) and fill in your ideas in the sticky notes I have put there for you. T shows Ss how to edit the Jamboard. T sends students into breakout rooms 5 minutes

Feedback (4-4 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' Speaking and use of language and content

T asks Ss what new uses they though of. T shares screen power point T provides language FB and elaboration
