Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with a sample conversation related to the previous lesson and to set a context for this lesson

T shows students the photo of the people in the reception(p.6/7) Students listen to the conversations and fill in the blanks. Teacher gets fb from students in open pairs.

Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T draws attention to the use of 'is' with he/ she/it. She elicits and puts the target form on WB. Where/+is+he/she/it Where+are+you /we/they from What+is+your/her/his/its+name? I/you/we/they+are he/she/it +is What+are+your/their+names? T writes a sample sentence and shows the contraction T puts on WB possessive adjectives.

Clarification (2-4 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T writes sample sentences on the board and focuses on the contractions and pronunciation of are/is and individual sentences

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T gives out WB 4 a and students make questions with the prompts T tells the students to do WB 4 b and gets FB. T tells the students to complete Wb 4 c.

Semi-Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T gives out photos of different celebrities. Students prepare questions looking at the information in the photos.

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students work with other pairs and give information about their celebrity.
