In this lesson students learn about info graphic about the effect on us of the increase in the pace of life through a reading text. Also they learn some new words in the context impatient, time wasting,broadband, etc They follow the appropriate stages for reading text in order. lead- in- pre- teach vocab- title prediction- skim- scan and discussion as post reading.

Main Aims

  • students will practice reading skill,to read for skimming, scanning and details in the context of the effect on us of the increase in the pace of life

Subsidiary Aims

  • In this lesson ss will be able to use technology words (teaching vocabulary) in the context of the effect on us of the increase in the pace of life.Also they will learn some other new words they will use it for discussion as follow up part

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T shows 3 interesting pictures about the effect on us of the increase in the pace of life in order to engage ss's mind and motivate them - T elicits their ideas page 1 and 2 in the sildes

Pre-Reading/Listening (13-14 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

- T shows a vocabulary one by one in the slide - T elicits their ideas and they will talk about - T checks the meaning by asking CCQs - - T asks them to drill these words by repetition - T shows the written form to them and phonetics - T shows the stress of the words ( ECDWS) - T gives some controlled practice about matching the synonym words that they have learned recently to do in pairs, T gives feedback to them - T shows the answer key - T shows the title and asks to predict what's the text talking about. ( title prediction) - T elicits their ideas about title (page 3 - 6 in order)

While-Reading/Listening #1 (7-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

- T gives STS time to read the article individually, including all the information in the info graphic, and answer one question. -T gets Sts to compare with a partner, and then check the answer in the class. - T shows the AK - T gives Sts exactly two minutes to complete the task individually ( find the answer for 1- 8 questions). When the two minutes are up: - T gets Sts to compare with a partner, and then check answers. page 10 and 12 , answer key page 11

While-Reading/Listening #2 (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

- T gives ss time to find six technology words in the article. - Tells them there are more than six possible answers, they will check the answers in pairs - T asks them to explain about technology words which they say. - T shows the AK page 13

Post-Reading/Listening (11-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- T gives 2 questions to sts and puts them in groups to discuss a bout the question as follow up activity - sts share their ideas in the class and discuss about it as a whole class page 15
