Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Greet Ss and start talking about birthday T: My mother's birthday is tomorrow. We usually go on a trip or go to a restaurant but we can't go anywhere this year because of Covid 19. (Sharing handout) T: What do you usually do on your birthday? You have 2 min. Now, work in pairs and discuss with your classmates! (breakout room) OCFB T-Ss: So what do you usually do? ( call individual name and write on Google doc. )

Pre-teach Vocab 2-3 words -CD2-2 (3-4 minutes) • to teach blocking vocab

(Meaning) Show the slid - matching activity -30th July 1966 :Lean the UK format date - the World Cup Final - football - match = game - win S-S: work in pairs for matching T-Ss: Check answers (Pronunciation) - how many syllable? - (mark on the slide) - where is stress? ( mark on the slide) - Repeat after T - T-S check (Form) Q: Which one is the verb? A: win Q: What is the past form of "win"? A: win - won

Initial Listening Task (5-6 minutes) • Gist- the purpose is to ask Ss to identify the main ideas of the text

-Showing picture B and tell the students about audio. T: Jason ask his grandfather, Albert, about his thirteenth birthday party. - Make multiple choice questions from Ex. 5a Q: Where was he? a. He was in London. b. He was in Liverpool. c. He was in Mexico. Why was his birthday a special day? a. Because it was his thirteen's birthday. b. Because England won the World Cup. c. Because it was street party day. - S: answer questions while listening. (breakout room) - S-S check (2min) - OCFB (1min)

Detailed listening task (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed listening tasks and process thee text in more depth

1. Show and read questions. 2. Listening- answer the questions on Google form a. When was Albert's 13th birthday? b. Where was the party? c. Were his friends there? d. Was the food good? What did they have? e. Where were his grandparents? 3. Work in pairs to check the answer before OCFB (breakout room) 4. if necessary, replay audio. 5. OCFB: T-Ss check the answers

Post-Listening (5-6 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and react/personalise th etopic.

Speaking exercise: "What was your best birthday party? Why?" discuss in pairs/groups - Showing questions on the board. - open the breakout room. for 3min. to discuss. While discussion, monitor the room and check the errors. - OCFB: T-S ( 2 or 3) Asking "what was your best birthday? when? why?" writing on the board

Language FB (2-3 minutes) • to inform Ss the errors and how to use correctly

Monitor Ss while discussion and take note. Write one or two errors on the board, elicit the correct language from students
