Current situation (pandemic)
Grade 9 level


In this lesson, students learn will learn about the current global situation regarding the pandemic the hit the world and still active till today. Furthermore, the students will improve their speaking skills by getting into the related discussions after they get exposed to the most commonly used vocabulary to describe the situation and the solutions to reduce the effectiveness of the virus spreading across the world. The students will get introduced to the topic by leading questions and 4 mins video. Finally, the Ss will finish their lesson with a taboo game to review the vocabulary they’ve learned through the lesson.

Main Aims

Introduction (3-5 minutes) • Warming up

Introducing the teacher and getting to know the Ss.

Introduction to the topic (5-8 minutes) • brainstorming

The Ss will get exposed to slideshows that contain leading statements to the topic along with commonly used vocabulary with pictures for more clarification.

Discussion leading video (4-6 minutes) • Getting the Ss exposed to the main theme of the lesson
discussion time (5-8 minutes) • enhancing speaking skills

Ss ask and answer each of the questions provided. The teacher goes around the class and check on the progress and interfere when needed.

Sessions ending • Vocab revising

Ss will play Taboo game that includes the vocabs they've had learned.
