In this lesson students will work o receptive skills. Practicing reading for gist, details and new vocabulary in the context of movies.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about books that were adapted into movies in the context of movies and cinema

Subsidiary Aims

  • them practice these vocabulary with gooIntroducing the students some new vocabulary and have them practice in the freer practice, including " definitions and examples."

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will talk about their favourite movies and movies they watched and hated it. The lead-in will introduce context for the text.

Pre-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Show students the gist activity and different words they will see in the text. Have studets read the text rapidly for gist and present the activity. Check answers with the learners.

While-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

Students read the text for a second time and complete the exercises about details found in the text.

Freer Practice (8-10 minutes) • Students practice the new vocabulary and speaking skills.

Students use a jamboard for insipiration and play the game "Guessing Game" in breakout rooms. They describe a movie to their friends and the others try to guess.

Feedback (5-8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to talk about the freer practice and questions on the lesson

Students will be given the opportunity to share with the other about the game played in the freer practice and las questions on words and the target language.
