Description

In this lesson , the ss will be able use the present continuous to express on running , around now activities.This can be done by showing them a picture which contains various activities that they have to describe. After that, they will familiar with rules in affirmative , negative and question.Then, they will practice in controlled activity by asking them to write some statements individually and share them with their peers in pair work and they get a feed back .Also, they will have a chance to practice a freer practice where they can personalise and practice the language .Finally, set up a fluency activity that give them the opportunity to speak and produce the target language in uncontrolled way.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of present continuous tense in the context of social life

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a describing on running activities and imaginary situation in the context of social life

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- greeting the students asking them to work in pairs to describe the picture .What is happening in this picture?They have to describe a wide range of activities they see in the picture using the present continuous. - Ss talk in pair and T monitors. - T asks ss to comment on their pairs’s language.

Language presentation. (8-10 minutes) • To present the target language in context.

The teacher present a picture which contains many actions and activities and he asks them to describe them at the moment in specific context They have to work individually then in pairs after that can tell about their partners ideas .

Language clarification (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The teacher clarifies and checks meaning from the context, highlights the present continuous forms, in affirmative , negative and question. giving students a various range of sentence which include all the potential forms.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The T can asks them to change a number of sentence from simple present to present continuous .Also, T can asks ss to write a short paragraph about them self using time expressions .Then, they can get feedback from the T.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T can ask ss to read one another work and then T can monitor them closely and give them feedback accordingly.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T introduce the ss to an imaginary situation , and he asks them apply role play of a journalist and a tourist in a museum.Then, T asks ss about they asked each other and he gives them feedback.
