TP 8: Listening
Pre-Intermediate level

Description

In this lesson, students get listening practice for gist and specific listening through the topic of ‘Celebrations’. The lesson starts with the following questions “What’s your favourite celebration? Why?”. This is followed by the pre-teach vocab where the students have to match sentences (1-5) to pictures (a-e), asking the students the form of the words (nouns) and getting the students to recognise the syllable stress and drill for pronunciation. Afterwards, the students will get a first glance of the gist questions and listen to the recording once over followed by a listening for specific detail where I’ll play the listening recording twice over and the students will complete a google form. Finally, I’ll give a model for the Freer Practice exercise where I’ll discuss my experience of New Years in Edinburgh before the students speak about their own New Years celebrations.
