Main Aims

  • To enable the students to write a informal postcard in the context of travelling.
  • To provide product writing practice of a a postcard in the context of traveling

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide the students to extend their lexical range for writing a postcard in the context of travelling.


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students talk about their travels in pairs, and gie feedback to the class.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I introduce a virtual trip in Bali by matching photos with the names of the places, some video clips, and my comments. I show my postcard as an example.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Clarify some set phrases and two points for having done and not having done and also a next plan. Provide MFP of the target language.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Provide a controlled practice of the format briefly. Show some web sites to check the format. Let them work individually and post their postcards in the chat box. Divide them into breakout rooms to peer check in pairs. The teacher download and correct some errors.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Nominate some students to show their postcards with comments. The teacher provides feedback to the class.
