Main Aims

Procedure

Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students to speak about relationships

T asks Students if they have had a relationship, and to think about their experiences in general, positive or negative.

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

T asks Ss to read the list of DOs and DON´Ts about the topic, individually DOs: -Love yourself first -Define your goals in life (traveling, job, having a family, having children) -Think about decisions made in the past and their results -Be yourself -Talk about something that hurts you, related with his/her behavior -Be respectful, a good listener and open-minded to receive some feedback -Set time to share with people who is important for you (friends, family) DON´Ts -Spend all your resources in the relationship ( money, time, energy) -Expect your partner thinks and behaves as you do, you both are different -Try to change him/her personality or how he/she looks -Invade his/her privacy (social media, mobile phone, etc.) -Have an argument in front of other people -Make a decision when you feel angry -Be demanding (attention, time together)

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Productive Task(s): Speaking (18-20 minutes) • To allow students to use the target language by personalising the topic

T asks Ss to work in pairs to talk about what they thing it´s appropriate to do or don´t do during a relationship based on their own experiences, encourages them to use the Useful language shown previously when doing the task; after 9 min, they will switch groups to do the task with differente people. T monitors and notes down to provide feedback

Feedback and Error Correction (7-8 minutes) • To provide Ss with feedback on language based on monitoring of the task, reformulating and error correction

T highlights the good points about content Uused by Ss during the task, then reformulates some phrases and does error correction about grammar or pronunciation
