The T will give the students 1 minute to write their answer in. The T will read aloud some of their answers.

Sample Analysis (10-15 minutes) • To highlight language and provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading and analyzing text messages.

The T will screen share google slide 3. The T will nominate a S to read the text. The T will ask the S : " Is ' goin to the store ' a complete sentence ? " (No.) The T will ask the S to type their answer into the public chat box. The T will ask the Ss to type their answer to : " In text messages do we need to use complete sentences ? " (No.) in the public chat box. The T will uncover the other text message by removing the black square over it. The T will nominate a S to read this text message. The T will ask the S : " Is ' goin to the beach ' a complete sentence ? " (No.) The T will ask the S to type their answer into the public chat box. (want to) The T will ask the Ss to type into the public chat box their answer to : " What is the same about these two messages ? " (The "Hi ..." "goin to the ... ", a question, and short incomplete sentences. ) Are they formal or informal ?( Informal.) The T will screen share google slide 7. We will brainstorm short ways we can respond “Yes” and “No.” The T will screen share google slide 9. We will brainstorm places we can invite a friend to. The T will elicit places from the students and write them onto the slide. The T will screen share google slide 10. We will brainstorm short ways we can respond “Yes” and “No.” If we have more time, we will quickly go over slides 8 and 11 for pronunciation; since we do not need to know how to pronounce words when writing, this is not a critical point to get to.

Writing Task (15-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

The T will screen share google slide 12 and give instructions and a demo. The T will pair the students up. One student will private message the other using the format : "Hi (NAME), goin to the (NOUN). need anything ? " The other student will respond with a short Yes or No response. The T will send them the link to google slide 12 and send them to breakout rooms to go over the checklist together. The students will then peer check using the checklist provided to them on slide 12. They will have 5 minutes to do this. The students will repeat the process outlined above, but will change rolls. The student who asked the question, last time, will now be the one responding with a short Yes or No answer. The T will monitor. They will have 5 minutes to do this. We will then repeat the entire process outlined above, but now with slide 13 and the model " Hi (NAME) ! goin to the (NOUN). wanna come ?" This will take about 10 more minutes.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

The T will screen share a google slide where students will write what their partner asked them. The Teacher will ask the students " Write what your partner asked you in the message bubble." The teacher will demo, then send the link to the students. We will then fix any errors or praise good work.
