Description

In this lesson, students will learn some useful language to talk about a book, concert or movie they ave read or watched within the context of " I recently watched, read or listened to....". Then, they will practice fluency speaking activity in the same context

Materials

Abc power point/ zoom meeting/ audio tracks

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice reviewing a book, movie or concert

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice listening for specific information

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask Ss opinion about the quote about free time Ss are instructed to rate the activities in the exercise from 1 to 4 individually, then find if they have common interests in pairs

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Ss are asked to fill a table individually while listening to three different people talking about something they have read or watched . Then compare their answers to each other Questions in the table are: What are they talking about? Did they like it? What is it about? What are its strong points? What are its weak points?

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Introduce some useful language Describe what it is It is called.......... It is by............... It was published, produced, performed....in It is about.......... Giving your opinion The acting, story, music....is really brilliant The best thing about it is....... One more thing I like is........ One weak point about it is.......... I would/ wouldn’t recommend it to ........... Elicit from students how to complete the above phrases

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

ss are asked to choose one thing they have read, watched, listened to and tell their friends about it. You have 5 minutes to prepare, then 1 minute to present What was it? When did you watch/ read/ listen to it? Who is it by? What is it about? What are its strong points? What are its weak points? Do you recommend it?

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Jot down their mistakes while presenting whole class feedback and correction
