Main Aims

  • In this lesson students will practice speaking in the context of Eid- Aladha . At the bigenning of the lesson, students will learn new vocabulary and useful language, then learner will watch a short video and finally, they will focus on speaking.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Listening and critical thinking.

Procedure

Lead in (1-3 minutes) • To get students' attention and to give a clue about the cotext of the lesson

start the lesson with a picture and ask some questions about it.

Blocking words (3-5 minutes) • To provide Ss with words they will be exposed to during the lesson.

Before starting with the tasks, new words will be explained to students so they can understand the texts and use in the speaking tasks.

Moral Education (4-6 minutes) • To provide Ss with moral education related to the topic of the lesson

Ss will watch 2 videos with English subtitles. The first one is about making Talbiyah for Eid-Aladha and the second one is about Things to do on Eid-Aladha.

Preparing to speak (5-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to organize their ideas logically, take notes, and learn more about the topic.

In groups, Ss tell 3 things they do in Eid-Aladha then Ss will watch a video with a gist task to learn more about things that should be done on Eid Aladha then I will provide Ss with the speaking task which they are supposed to do at the end of the lesson. After that, Ss will have a critical thinking task to take their notes and organize their ideas logically. After that, provide Ss with notes to help them prepare for their discussion and provide them with useful language that may not use. Ss will have a check list to check what they prepare for the speaking task. Finally, I will explain how they should do the speaking task.

Speaking Task (15-20 minutes) • For learner to practice oral fluency in relation to speaking about Eid Aladha.

In pairs, work with another pair who chose a different thing to do. Each pair should: Ss describe what they want to do. Ss Make suggestions about what to do and why it should be fun. The other pair will try to persuade you to join them. As Ss listen to the other pair, they should: Ask questions about what they want to do. Use appropriate language to show that they agree or disagree.

Feedback (3-6 minutes) • To provide language feedback based on the task.

Provide Ss with the mistakes they did during the speaking task. Ask which pair could convince others of their activity to choose the best pair.
