Unit 6 - Words with variable stress
For the students to understand the effect of stress on words and their meanings
For the students to be able to get the stressed part off a recorfing and define the word and get the nature of it
Procedure (41-53 minutes)
-T tells a story in the context of food import/export business to introduce the TL of today's lesson.
-T elicits the TL items by using a set of pictures and eliciting the words
-T plays the 6.4 recording and asks about any sound difference -As the nature/stress relation is highlighted,T goes over the M-P-F of the words -T engages Ss in PW to call on each other and do Activity3
-T shows a text with gaps to fill -After Ss snap a picture of it,T play Record6.5 and leaves Ss to fill the text -T does feedback/error correction on content and stress.
-T shows a box with some words in it,gives Ss time to write down the nature of each word. - T plays Record6.6 and then checks the answers
-T splits Ss in breakout rooms - Ss are given question to ask and answer by using the words from the previous activity. -Record6.7 is played to check the answers of Ss
