Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of some vocabulary in the context of describing holiday items

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide a freer speaking practice in the context of describing holiday items.


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows a picture of

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

T shows a picture of 13 objects in serial and asks students to name the objects in the picture T gives instructions "name many as objects as you can in 4 mins" Ls check their answers in groups. T monitors for the following teach stage.

Teach (10-13 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T share the PTT to teach challenging words: - T shows pictures and elicit meaning - T checks Ls understanding by asking CCQS to clarify their understanding. - modelling / drilling. - T highlights form and pronunciation.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T asks ss to match the 13 objects in the picture to the phrases "description" on the other side in 5 mins: -T gives instructions " match the words to the phrases in 5 mins" - Ls check their answers in groups - Feedback is provided.

Freer practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T shows the pictures of the items -T gives instructions " choose an object and write three clues to describe it then your partner will guess it" - Ls will be give 2 mins to prepare themselves. -Ls are divided into groups of pairs. Feedback content - language
