Main Aims

  • The main aim of this lesson is to help students describe their earliest childhood memory and listen to other student describe theirs as well

Subsidiary Aims

  • The sub aims of this lesson is practicing speaking and listening to other students past memories. Help student improve their listening skills and develop the ability to ask questions about past events and feelings. Students will learn more about 'vocabularies' related to the topic of childhood memory.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start with introducing myself and will share with students one of my earliest childhood memories. Students will tell their partner one of their earliest childhood memories. They will have limited time to complete this task.

Pre-teach vocabulary (7-8 minutes) • Meaning, Form . Pronunciation

Teacher will show students vocabularies selected for pre-teaching on Google slide. Teacher will ask CCQs to check students understanding of the word. Teacher will ask students to can give a definitions using their own words. Teacher will explain the word with easy words that students can understand. Teacher will also teach about word form and correct way of pronunciation. Students will be given example sentence of the word.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • The main aim of this activity is to improve students listening skills. To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information about the listening tasks

Students will listen to the recording about Helen. Teacher will ask students if they had any challenging understanding what they have heard. If students say yes, teacher will break down the words that was challenging to make it easier for them. if not, students will move on to discuss with their partner in breakout room about the general idea of this recording. After that we will conduct class feedback.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed about the listening tasks

Students will listen to the track 2.9 recording again. Teacher will send google form in private chat to answer the questions from the recording. After they complete the task, we will discuss students answers.

Post-Productive (7-8 minutes) • To give student a task they can relate to

Students will watch a YouTube video about three adults reminiscing about their earliest childhood memory. Teacher will ask students if they can relate to it or if it brings memories from their early childhood.

Feedback (1-2 minutes) • To provide students with an opportunity to share what they've learned from this lesson

Teacher will give students a set of questions about the topic. Students can work in pairs and share what they remember from their childhood.Teacher will observe students language while are speaking about the topic.
