in this lesson, learners are going to get familiar with some Reporting verbs that are used to report what someone said more accurately than using say & tell.

Procedure

warmer / lead - in (15-20 minutes) • • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T sets the scene T will start with a funny question : why 6 is afraid of 7? then T will explain and elicit the session aims, so SS will understand what are they going to do / study. T will hang the rope in class, then he will hang some pictures using staplers, pictures are before & after (fake - original) . T will ask SS to distinguish between the original picture and fake one. then T will use some examples of reporting verbs about himself and his friend, talking about English classes. T will board 1 / 2 examples then he will go for next step.

study ( exposure) (25-30 minutes) • to make SS familiar with reporting verbs and their usages and how to implement them

T will give SS a half printed copy of book on page 84, then he will ask SS to read it in groups (grouping SS by using emojis), and each group should write the rest of story by itself, the best one or the closest one will be rewarded. then, T will ask learners to open their books and look at whole story, then finding all verbs in this text. next, he will provide SS with papers including information on reporting verbs ( examples and instructions). then, T will ask SS to read the text carefully and based on the given paper and instructions, find examples in the text about reporting verbs. at the end, T will write some of those examples on the board and explains how do they come in a sentence.

Activation (30-35 minutes) • To provide students with practice using reported verbs / To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

C P : T will put SS into 3 groups, then he asks SS to look at exercise 5 C and 6 A , and he gives them 10 minutes to do this exercise, then checking answers in groups. music is being played. Semi-C : T will put SS in groups of 3, then asking them to imagine themselves as a family : Dad, Mom, Son / Daughter. parents are going to take their S / D to a secret party, and S / D is going to report his / her teacher what happened in that party using reporting verbs. best performance will be rewarded a soda for lunch *-* F P: T will provide each learner with a white A4 paper, then asking them to imagine following condition: you are going to be invited to a presidential ratification ceremony in an unnamed country. you have to imagine yourself in this ceremony, then narrating moments you were observing for all SS and T.
