Description

In this lesson, My Ss going to learn more about the future time, they also will practice speaking about their future plans. The lesson starts with a warm up about this evening and what are they going to do at evening, Ss in pairs will talk about their plans and then they discuss it in WC. Then Ss will look for the future form in the sentences from the previous lesson then they will find the future plans form After that Ss will practice more and make questions using the form of the future. At the end Ss will work in groups to ask and answer the questions , then they move around to discuss them.The Ss will then practice the target language by doing a controlled activity, a gap fill.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of" going to" in the context of future plans and give controlled practice in the context of future.

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation, Ask and answer quetions

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students into the target language

T asks Ss questions about their plans in the future. Ss in pairs ask and answer each other the Qs Ss discuss their plans in WC T gives FB

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T hands out the HO1 and asks the Ss to read the sentences individually and carefully T writes two sentences on the board ( or use the OHP to show them ) T ask the Ss to work in pairs to set the form of the going to future T elicits the form from the Ss and write it on the board T writes the form of the going to in affirmative sentences T asks the Ss to help him sticking "going to" form in the board.

Clarification (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T asks the Ss about words that we use to talk about future T elicits few words from the Ss " going to " T write going to on the board T clarifies that we use going to when we talk about future plans T writes the form of future plane T pronounces " going to " and the Ss repeat

Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T hand out HO 2 and ask the students to read the sentences alone T set the groups and ask the Ss to fill the gaps T asks the Ss to work in groups of two or three and checks their answers T checks the answers in WC T elicits the negative form of " going to" from the Ss T asks the Ss to help him sticking the negative form of "going to"

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T hands out HO 3 and asks the Ss to read the first questions T tills the Ss that they are going to prearrange the words to make a question about the future plan using going to Ss work alone and try to write the correct order of the words to make question sentences Ss work in groups to check if they made the questions correctly Ss in the same groups try to answer the questions T elicit the question form of " going to " Ss helps the T sticking the question form of " going to "

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T asks the Ss to hold their HO 3 and mingling around and ask new partners from different groups the questions from the previous and listen to their answers. T monitors and take notes

Free Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T writes three signals on the board and asks the Ss about them + - ? T clarifys that the signals mean posative form and negative form and question form T handles the word cards to the groups and ask each group to stick one form on the board
