Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T starts a situational warmer,by telling a short story in the context of places and city features -T starts the story by a statement, then switches to sort of a gap-filling pattern, where Ss participate in the lead-in. -By doing that,T gets Ss interested in the topic, and stimulates their schemata.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-T shows a text (story) that includes the target language to Ss and asks them to read it. -After reading,T uses CCQs to check for gist understanding from the students. -T makes breakout rooms where Ss will choose from a set of pictures the one that's described by the story.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • Drawing the attention of students to the target language.

-T shows the text again -T shifts the attention towards the general gist of the story (city features) -Ss,by guided discovery, find the target language in the text.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-T shows Ss pictures relevant to the target language -T elicits meaning/general definition from Ss -T uses CCQs to confirm proper understanding -Ss work on written and spoken form with T,with emphasis on stress.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T splits Ss into breakout rooms -Activity 1:Ss match pictures of places in the city with their respective activities/details -Activity 2:Ss fill the blanks of a charade like story, with items from the target language.

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-T does a brief scaffolding, reminding Ss again of the target vocabulary, and some sentences or structures they can use in the coming task. -T splits Ss into breakout rooms, and asks them to talk to each other, describing their neighborhoods, using the target language. -After returning from the breakout rooms,T does a feedback session on content & language with the students
