Description

The students will learn about film making through practicing grammar tasks. The lesson will start by asking students few questions about the passive voice and giving brief background information about it. This is followed by reading practice 2a page 57 where the students have to identify the tense of each sentence. Then, students will do practice a page 142 where they have to choose the right answer. At the end, students with do practice b page 142 then discuss both exercises in groups.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T greats students. T shows Ss sentences in the passive voice and ask them about the structure of the sentence.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

T projects a picture of a broken window to the Ss. T asks CCQ questions to elicit the meaning of the passive voice. T writes the form and ask students to write a sentence in the passive voice. T projects table of verbs where students have to complete the table with v3 form.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills in the context of film making.

Ss read task 2a page 57. Ss discuss their answers of task 2a page 57 where students identify the tense of sentences written in passive voice. Ss report to T their answers. T gives Ss the answer key.

Task 2 (6-8 minutes) • To allow students to practice the passive voice in the context of film making.

Ss do exercise 2a page 142 where they have to circle the right answer. Ss work in groups and share their answers. Ss report to T their answers. T gives Ss the answer key.

Task 3 (6-8 minutes) • To allow students to practice the passive voice in the context of film making.

Ss do exercise 2b page 142 where they have to fill in the blank. Ss work in groups and share their answers. Ss report to T their answers. T gives Ss the answer key.

Language Analysis (3-4 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and use of the task language

T clarifies the form and the use of the passive voice which are: 1- We don't know the doer. 2- When the doer is known to everyone. 3- When the object is more important than the subject.
